What is Basic First Aid?
Is Basic First Aid the same as Intermediate?
No, they are 2 different courses and certification types.
What is the difference between Basic First Aid and Intermediate First Aid?
Basic First Aid is less time, a lower standard, and a lower cost. It only prepares you for basic emergencies.
Most workplaces require Intermediate First Aid (check out our awesome Half Online Intermediate First Aid & CPR Course here).

How long does an Basic First Aid Certificate Last? How long is Basic First Aid Valid For? When does Basic First Aid Expire?
We get all kinds of variations of this question… a lot! So here’s a detailed explanation of how long Basic first aid certifications last.
According to Ontario WSIB - the government of Ontario Workplace Insurance and Safety Board - Basic First Aid certifications expire after 3 years. After 3 years, you wont be able to recertify as you will need to take the course over again.
Basic First Aid also comes with CPR A & AED Certification.
Why is that important? Because it’s recommended, though generally not required - check with your workplace - to recertify in CPR once per year (only CPR, not Basic First Aid AND CPR too). Is that confusing?
